March 2026 - 'Hart Searches for Soul in Singapore's Wealth'

From Goldilocks to Stagflation: Navigating the new macro reality! I enjoyed sharing Legacy Wealth Advisors‘ investment views and market outlook with the Financial Times PWM in London recently.

In our view, the global macro environment is shifting from a “Goldilocks” scenario toward stagflation-characterised by rising inflation and slowing growth. While this transition brings heightened risks, it also creates specific opportunities for proactive investors.

Key insights from our discussion:

🔹 Energy & Inflation: With Middle East tensions rising, we’ve been working with clients to take advantage of market dislocations. We tailored a strategy to benefit from oil price spikes that also acts as a hedge against falling risk assets. This strategy has performed very well over the last few weeks, cushioning the pullback in equities and bonds.

🔹 The China Catalyst: China’s latest five-year plan could be a pivot point for Chinese equities. We identified specific themes-including domestic consumption, biotech, and the AI race-as key KPIs for growth, favouring handpicked thematic stocks over broad, “good and bad” ETFs.

🔹 The Succession Gap: Too many wealthy families do not have a robust succession plan. As we enter the Great Wealth Transfer-where trillions of dollars will change hands over the next two decades-we discussed why “sorting out the mess” is now a top priority for the second generation. At Legacy Wealth Advisors, we help families design bespoke succession plans and family wellness programmes to ensure a smooth transition of wealth, enhance harmony and prepare the rising generation to be future wealth owners.

Thank you to Yuri Bender and the PWM team for the deep dive into why we are searching for the “soul” of wealth management in Singapore.
